I don't ever know how to deal with crying people. What reaction have you had to Lauren, Ashley?Īshley: "It's weird. I think Glee is definitely helping that." My sister is in high school, she's 16 years old, and she's like, 'This is my best friend, he's gay'. I do think they're taking the typical underdog and turning it on its head, and I think everyone's celebrated on Glee. I don't think I had headphones off my ears for four years - I literally don't think my mum saw my ears for all of high school. We were both very fortunate that we're both very musically-inclined. I, personally, was all over the place and being able to channel that energy into music is incredible. Mark: "Just from the people who have told us, 'We started a glee club because of you guys', that obviously shows people banding together with a mutual love of music and being proud of that."Īshley: "High school's such an emotional time. It kind of shows a softer side to Puck and shows an endearing side to Artie."Īshley: "You and Artie together are so cute."ĭo you think Glee is actually changing the culture in high schools? Mark: "We call that a Partie! Yeah, it's cool. That's what I want."Īshley: "Step touch your way to a record deal!"ĭo you like Puck's bromance with Artie, Mark? I think she's getting out of Lima, Ohio come hell or high water, whether it's wrestling or scholarships or becoming an internet celebrity. Is there anywhere you'd like your characters to go?Īshley: "I feel like Lauren has a plan. I try to take as much of it in and learn as much as I can, and I have." "So the show all around has been a really enlightening artistic experience, just for me as a person and artist. I enjoy it, personally, and it's opened my horizons to so many different types of music and an appreciation for dancers and the people behind the scenes - the producers and the writers and everything. Mark: "No, and especially not to the degree that we have. I don't know what else he can do!"ĭid you expect to be singing and dancing when you joined Glee, considering that you were on the football team, Mark? The short answer is no! I mean, he got one pregnant and he still didn't settle down. We've seen glimmers of a softer side to Puck - for example when Quinn was pregnant. You met Lauren and she was so brooding and so confident but also a little intense and Puck was such a badass, and I think the both of them just let each other be each other." I mean, I was in a really serious relationship in high school which was dumb, but I think high school is a little bit more casual. Where do you think Puck and Lauren will go next season?Īshley: "I think Ryan definitely considers it official after the Gwyneth episode when we went to celibacy club together. Are you good friends in real life?Īshley: "I like this kid a lot, yeah. You two have a great chemistry on screen. We get a lot of questions like that but it really feels like even Dot and even the characters that are, I guess, more minor, they just feel like family. We're all working hard so we don't view it that way."Īshley: "We don't really delineate between each other. Mark: "It kind of feels like we're all working on the same level.
